Any one have any tips on how to get back to sleep after a night feed?

my baby is 10 weeks old and generally goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:30 and will wake up 1/2 for a feed and then again at 5ish.

I have been having trouble getting back to sleep after the first feed (I’m formula feeding).

It’s driving me insane :( and i’m getting worried now with how little sleep I am getting.

I found best thing to do is firstly tell yourself that it's ok if you can't sleep, you're still resting in bed and that takes the pressure off. Then I put an earbud in and listen to podcasts. That takes my mind off things and I generally end up falling asleep.

Thankyou, i need to do this because all it’s doing is causing me frustration and over worrying!

I’vs considered taking Night Nurse or a drowsy piriton but I don’t want to get into a bad habit

I remember this so well with my first. Currently with my second who's got an identical wake up pattern as your 10 week old and I've had to remind myself not to worry about sleep!

I agree with PP that most of my inability to sleep is the worry that I won't get back to sleep (or the in my head countdown till the next wake up!!.

I also tell myself that it's ok to be tired, there's nothing urgent to do the next day that can't wait. I also nap on the sofa when the baby sleeps in the day in case they do a rare long nap!

I also used to listen to stories on the CALM app (my favourite is the Matthew McConaughey (spelt wrong I'm sure). He has a lovely voice that sends me to sleep!

When my baby now wakes at 5/6 I also bring them into bed with me to go back to sleep for an hour or two rather than start the day early. I used to worry about bringing them into bed and creating bad habits but it doesn't seem to have had any negative effects on number two!

Yes I honestly think the most important first step is to tell yourself that it's ok if you don't get back to sleep. I would get myself into a state thinking omg I'm gonna be so tired, how will I cope? It actually turned out that although tired I was still able to function on very little sleep so you just have to crack on. The listening to something is definitely the best for taking your mind off it.
