5 month old sleeping on stomach?

Morning. My daughter will be 5 month tomorrow. I always put her down to sleep on her back but a few times in the past few nights I've found her sleeping on her tummy. She can roll back to front but doesn't seem to be able to go front to back. I always roll her back onto her back but I'm super worried about this. Is it cause for concern?

So long as you put her down on her back then you are following the safer sleep guidelines, once they can roll there isn't anything you can do to stop her. You can try gently turning her back if it reassures you but you don't need to keep checking that she is on her back through the night.

Mine did this at 5 months and has slept on his tummy every nap and night since then. He is 19 months now. He couldn't roll back initially but I didn't turn him over. He learned very quickly but seemed happiest on his tummy anyway.

If she got there herself then it’s perfectly safe because she’ll more than have the head strength not to suffocate even if she can’t fully roll back over yet. You can do lots of tummy time during the day to encourage front to back rolling but other than that there’s nothing you can do because can’t stay up all night to turn her back. Both of mine slept on their fronts as soon as they could roll (4 months for DC1 and 2 months for DC2), it’s really normal.
