Hi all. DD is almost 3.5 and had been sleeping through pretty reliably since she was around 18 months old. However, for the past couple of months her sleep seems to have regressed.
If we're lucky she'll still sleep through on the odd night, but most nights she wakes at least once. She will either stand at her door and call for mummy or daddy (usually mummy) or cry hysterically. Thankfully she does go back to sleep fairly quickly, but on bad nights she can wake up to 5/6 times! Last night was 4 times.
She's perfectly happy in the day (although gets very tired by 5/6pm). The only major changes recently I can think of is that she started nursery six weeks ago. She enjoys it and they say she's very happy and well behaved there, but perhaps it's a touch of separation anxiety?
I'm also currently 35 weeks pregnant. I don't know if she fully understands she's getting a baby brother yet but maybe she does and is worried we'll forget her and is trying to seek attention?
When she does wake we try not to engage with her too much, we'll just say 'it's bedtime' and she'll usually climb back into bed and fall asleep within five/ten minutes.
With the usual pregnancy exhaustion and the frequent wake ups I'm very tired! At least it's good practice for when baby arrives 😂 I'm hoping it's just a phase and will pass if we stay consistent.
Did anyone else have this with their little ones?
Thank you 😊
