6 month old won’t sleep in cot

Is there any advice on how to get my 6 month old to sleep in his cot?

At the moment he is still in our room, we are having to rock him to sleep (which is fine) but then he will wake up every hour when in his cot. As soon as he comes in bed with me to cosleep he only wakes once or twice.

I don’t really want to cosleep and would like to try and get him to go in his cot and stay there.

any tips??

If he needs rocking/body contact to get off to sleep then he may be expecting it every time he wakes making him unable to self settle in the night. We did a gentler version of Ferber to get our DD to self settle in her cot - went in at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 minute intervals and picked up to soothe, then back down again. And no rocking to sleep, baby goes into the cot 'drowsy but awake' (I know, I know. But it really did work for us) She was in her own room though. It worked a treat for naps and nighttime and she now sleeps through.

Aw theres a sleep regression at 6 months Op
id suggest you co sleep , get through this next fee weeks and try again
we didnt co sleep until 6 months, then i needed to sleep !

have you tried taking the bars off one side of the cot? And putting it along side your own bed?

  • my DC is 14 months and now sleeps in own room in cot unless teeth bothering etc. i call getting to 4am a "win"
