1 yo won't settle at night for DH

My 13 mo is generally a good sleeper, although usually wakes once in the evening/night. She'll settle very quickly if I go in, give her some water and tuck her in. However, if DH tries to go in she instantly gets very upset and starts crying hysterically. The longest we've lasted without me going in is 15 minutes, by which time she was beside herself. The odd thing is she doesn't mind if he puts her to bed in the evening - it's just if she wakes after already having been asleep. I am reaching the stage where I would like to go out in the evening once in a while (!) but I feel really worried about what would happen if she woke and I wasn't there. Anyone else had this problem?

yes, same with us. we got to the stage where I was doing all the settling, but DH has been trying again last couple of weeks. Oddly, DS (11mo) will settle ok for him the later it is, but generally won't settle earlier, so I'm the same as you in that I'm not getting out in the evening at all! - Rest of his sleep is atrocious too, mind you, so I can't say I've got the energey yet!

Can DH start coming in with you, when you go into settle her? or would that be too disruptive?

DS won't settle at bedtime for DH yet, so I always do that bit and end up in his room for ages until he goes off, but he does settle in his cot, so if i go up in the eve I try to settle him without picking out of cot unless it's later on and he wants a feed (yes, won't give the feeds up yet either ), whereas when DH goes in, he picks him out, cuddles him and then puts him back down asleep. So maybe that's why he's started settling ok for DH - as he does something different to me. Could your DH try a different approach to what you do perhaps?
