12.45 am - DS (13m) wakes up. listen to crying become screaming.
1.00 - go in with medised incase its teething.
1.30. go in and try CC - can only cope with 5 minute intervals as teh crying doesn't stop.
2.30. still crying/screamin so now go in and pick up/put down at 5 minute intervals.
3.15am - go in pick up adn sit onrocking chair. DS screaming so much he starts coughing adn retching. once on me he stops crying adn starts babbling. put back to bed. repaet this 5 times until finally he drops off at 4am.
this is teh third night this has happened. O don't know what else i should be doing or where I'm going wrong here. should I lengthen teh intervals between going in? how do you cope with that when thye are screaming? should i just pick him up and go down that route as soon as he cries? He used to be a great sleeper & this is just a recent thing (last fortnight or so)
he's fine in all other respects - apart from being tired obviuosly. (but not as tired as mummy!!)

Ahh welcome to my world, if i give you my phone number we could have a chat at 2,3,4,5,6am!!!! Its a complete nightmare isnt it.
Suggestions:

  1. try giving neurofen at bedtime with bedtime bottle. This should give analgesia for up to 8 hours if its teething pain. 2)Whats the temperature in the room, is it too hot, too cold? try adjusting it to remain constant through the night.
  2. stick to the routine you have, you need to be persistently consistant.
  3. soothe and reassure, tell DS its time for sleep but dont leave the room.
  4. if you are brave enough (im not) to leave for a few mins to see if he will settle himself off, try it. Good luck, my sympathies are with you, i know how you feel. Its the hardest thing ever. x
