After feeding to sleep

I have a toddler who is two and a bit. I've always fed him to sleep and it's worked well for us. I am a single parent and it's just been the least stressful way of doing things for me. He's recently been taking longer and longer to go to sleep, so I've started putting him in the cot awake after feeding to chill for a bit, then going back up after 15/30 mins to feed again and he falls asleep straight away. He doesn't cry in the cot. I've got nothing against self soothing/cry it out etc most people I know have gone down that route but it's just not something I'm considering at the mo.

Was just wondering the mummies out there who have fed to sleep, at what age did it stop working, and what was the next step for you? Thanks in advance x

ds was a few months older than yours and I switched to cuddling to sleep. Which worked well. He was old enough to understand as well.

Thanks for your reply, did you feed first and then cuddle? How long did the cuddling take?

Cuddling or rocking to sleep here too. One DC liked a song at the same time, the other not.

Mine seems to be getting a bit too distracted to sleep if I'm holding him! So have been leaving him in the cot for a bit with his night light then coming back after a bit to feed again and he usually falls asleep within minutes. Just a bit wary of making the process longer, but would only really matter if I was going out, coz otherwise I just come down and start making dinner etc it's not a hassle!

Feed then cuddle but then some nights it was just cuddles. It varied some nights it took ages others really quick but he’s a hardened sleep refuser!
