how long can 9 month olds go between naps?

Just idle curiosity - for DS to be on top form, he still has to nap every couple of hours. He can go longer, but gets progressively louder and more hyperactive which can be fun but mostly isn't... I know they're all different, but is he stuck in a groove and can I help him keep going longer?

i put mine down at 10 and 2 for 1-11/2 hours on reccomendation of old fashioned HV and worked a treat. After 18 months changed to 2 hours after lunch.

it was a while ago but i think my DD would wake at approx 7-8, go for a nap at 10ish for 1-1/2 hrs then back for a nap at 2-3ish for another 1hr. so that probably was 2-3 hrs awake at a time.
seem to recall her friends all doing roughly the same thing even though the mums had all initially chosen various routines recommended (or not) in the books. We all ended up in the same place.
at about a year we went for the one longer nap after lunch. it suited me to do it then whereas some of her friends did it a bit later. all by 18mths I'd say.
i wouldn't worry about it - i know its frustrating because it can limit what you can do but he will last longer in due course.
