Linking Sleep Cycles / Crying in Sleep

The past few weeks my five, nearly six, month old has started crying in his sleep about 40 mins after being put down. Sometimes he can settle himself back down but most nights its a case of picking him up soothing, laying back down, sleep/crying for about another hour or so until he eventually drops off.

Has anyone else found their baby is struggling to stay asleep in the early part of the night? And if so how to fix it? Or will it just pass?

Thanks! x

Its baby struggling to leave the light sleep / semi-conscious and enter deep sleep.

Dummy sucking may help. Hand on babys chest for reassurance and presence could help settle too.

Yea mine went through this at 5 months, having been an absolute dreamboat when it came to sleeping. He'd wake after 40 mins which would require us to cuddle him back to sleep. This would continue until midnight when thankfully he's then sleep through. He had outgrown his Snuzpod at the same time so was in a travel cot which didn't help - he was quite unsettled because of the change and also because of his age.

Sleep training solved the problem, which we did a few days before turning 6 months.

I'm interested in hearing your sleep training experiences at this age as we are going to do it around that age too... which method did you use, please? How did it go? We did controlled crying at 10 months with our first so familiar with technique
