3 week old sleep

I’m waiting for everyone to tell me this is normal - but my 3 week old will wake every 1-2 hours over night - sometimes every 45 mins - but during the day will sleep much longer stretches. Any ideas how I can flip it so we get the longer stretches at night? Thanks!

It is normal. Sorry. At that age my now 8 month old was cluster feeding from midnight to 5am. It was brutal. Then she slept all day. She is my 3rd in 4 years so I swear I have read everything on the internet about sleep and I still just had to grin and bear it. I also believe in sleep training later on, I'm not just a suck it up kind of mum. Sleep is important for everyone. But in the early days it is just very very limited.

You could start a bedtime routine by doing a bath every night (though I would do it at whatever time her natural bedtime is at the moment, not try and bring it back to 7pm for a while yet). Do last feed in a quiet dim room. No excitement, lights etc during night feeds. Basically try to teach them difference between day and night.

It will get better and you will survive... but you won't feel like you will on wakeup 97,623 in a night.
