Noisy baby at night

I’ve been scrolling through this website like a mad lady at silly o clock to help and look for answers so I hope someone can shed some light and hopefully I’m not going mad!
First time mum my little one is 7weeks and he’s 13lbs - I no! He’s sleeps really well during the day but come 6 ish of the evening once he’s had his bottle we can’t settle him till his basically ready for his next bottle I think he has trapped wind as he does struggle to fart but he’s poops fine, how does this work!? Also when I lay him in his next to me for at night he has a party in his sleep! He is so loud and also very snotty/mucusy we have saline drops and done steamy baths to help this as he was born via section they said this would be common but why only at night I haven’t slept in days as he’s went through a stage of bringing milk up and it’s terrified me he’d would choke so I guess his noises at night are a trigger and I worry! My husband sleeps through it! I just need help as I’m so tired I can barely function l, I live on my nerves and need some sleep!
He’s grunts a lot in his sleep like he’s trying to fart as he brings his legs up but obviously being snotty and congested as well makes him sound like a pug with a bad cold, I’ve asked for help and don’t seem to be getting anywhere, what do I? Xx

Hi @KarisAbb, did you ever manage to get to the bottom of your qee ones problem? Currently got the exact same issue with 3 week old. We're going to speak to go tomorrow, but he's been grunting, straining and crying all night for a week!

CatGos · 12/05/2022 05:07

Wee GP

PollyDarton2 · 12/05/2022 05:15

Is he pooping ok @CatGos ? Google “baby grunting syndrome”’ (I think that’s what it’s called). My two are are 5 weeks and there’s all sorts of drama when they pooh but so far have being going fine, so no evidence there’s a blockage anywhere! For one of them it’s easing already (i.e. less grunting and dramatics!)

He seems to poop fine but struggle a bit with gas oddly. We certainly have enough dirty nappies ! It's also only at night when he is laid on his back. Goodness knows!

I hope your second also starts to find it easier soon!

@KarisAbb just wondering what the outcome was for you? Currently going crazy from lack of sleep due to dd3 being really noisy and sounding awfully congested through the night, even though there is no mucous etc there. Have went doctor but he was useless!

KarisAbb · 24/02/2024 07:15

Hey lovely it’s awful I no but honestly he grew out of it seemed to be a couple weeks at most he’s 2 now! I promise it gets better! Xx

@KarisAbb o wow must seem like a lifetime ago to you now! Can I ask did your little one cry and get upset with it? I'm not sure if it's normal congested noisy newborn or if she might have silent reflux going on. It's only at night she's totally fine during day! X

KarisAbb · 24/02/2024 09:49

Yeah so he was born via c section and there more congested anyway but it’s always worse a nighttime! If your worried speak to a GP but honestly it does get better and your a brilliant mum it’s all just new and in a few weeks it’ll will be a distant memory. I’m no professional by any means but newborns are just getting used to using all the own organs and finding out how to do it there nocturnal anyway 😂 so nights are always fun! You got this xx
