How to stop arms, legs and dummies going through cot bars

...and hitting head against them too!

Almost 10mo DS has now decided he wants to go into his cot awake at nap time, rather than be rocked to sleep. Fair enough! After a bit of wriggling about, he drops off.

But during that wriggling about, arms and legs are flailing about all over the place, and I'm worried he's going to get his arm or leg stuck and hurt himself. Even in his sleeping bag, he can get his leg caught.

Less worryingly, but bloody annoyingly, he's chucked his dummy through the bars at the back so it falls down the wall and I have to pull the bloody cot out to retrieve it.

I know cot bumpers are not advised any more, so any pointers about how to fix this?

Thanks!
