Can I use dummy for day but not nighttime

Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation?

My 5 month old became very dependent on her dummy and it would frequently wake her up in the night (I'm taking every hour to 30mins). I made the decision to get rid of the dummy over 2 weeks ago and since then I've had a very unhappy baby.

I put her to bed at night awake but drowsy we have about 10mins of crying then she sends herself to sleep. She wakes up about 4am ready to start the day.

The daytimes are becoming too much, so I've caved and given her back the dummy. My question is has Antoine successfully used a dummy in the day and not at night? Has it affected babies sleep? Thanks in advance

My DD also 5 months has a dummy a lot more during the day as her naps are a bit rubbish so she’s often grumpy but I’m also thinking of stopping at night time. She needs it for the initial comfort when falling asleep but then spits it out and it’s not in her mouth all night so I’m thinking it’ll be pretty easy to do.

I got rid of my little boys dummy at 5 months for the same reason, and I read that you can give it in the day but not at night - a lot of people actually said to do this first and then remove it altogether.

It’s possible but your more likely to cave if they are upset at 2am and asking for their dummy/ you know they will settle quicker if you have it to them? Or maybe that’s just me… I used to ban it in day other than for naps/night when I was weaning off… we did have multiple dummies in his cot and one clipped to gro bag if loosing it in the night is the issue 😂
