18 month old dropped all naps- anyone else?

DD is only just 18 months and just before she stopped napping entirely. She was doing 45 mins to an hour waking at 2.30pm previously. I've tried making the nap earlier but no difference. She doesn't seem remotely tired and will happily go through 12/13 hours awake before bedtime. I'm still putting her down for a nap but mainly she spends it playing in her cot or crying so I'll come back. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I bother putting her for a nap anymore? She doesnt sleep brilliantly at night either so I'd have thought she'd need one still.

It's early, and they can go through phases of refusing once they figure out there are other things going on they might miss out on. Id persevere for a while.

On the other hand one of mine dropped all naps by 20 months and it did hugely improve night sleep. He just needs much less sleep than other kids.

Eldest started refusing naps at 18m. Prior to this she only had half an hour at a time so it wasn’t such a huge deal and she was fine. By 20m she only slept if we were on a long drive in the afternoon BUT then slept 11-12 hours overnight so I counted it as a win.

Some need less sleep than others I think, like adults. DH usually only sleeps 5-6 hours a night.

Only issue I found was at grandparents/nursery. For grandparents I downloaded a load of Julia Donaldson animations and told them to let her watch those at lunchtime so they got a break. Nursery had to send her into the preschool room at naptime to stop her trying to wake her friends up!

My now 7 yr old dropped naps not long after turning 1. Like pp above she does seem to need less sleep than other children still now. I was a sahm with her until recently though so didn’t need to worry about how it affected others.
