My DS went in his own room at 8 months he is no 11 months and 1 week and ever since then he will fall asleep with us which we then transfer him into his cot in his room once he's fallen asleep (can't seem to get him to fall asleep any other way at night otherwise). He will usually fall asleep in his cot for 2 hours but will wake up in which I must admit ever since, we then go and get him and put him in bed with us as that's the only way he will end up going straight back to sleep but we have been advised it's not great to do this, we tried last night when he woke up to go give him some juice and tuck him back in and walk away but that was an hour worth of screaming, it was really heartbreaking and I don't know what to do now to keep him to stay in his cot all night!

Any advise? :(

Firstly, I wouldn't fix what isn't broken. So if your setup works for you, carry on! But there seem to be some distance between what you're doing now and whoever has advised you. Can you go in and cuddle him back to sleep? Not unusual for an 11mo to need settling overnight.

Was he going to sleep in his cot when it was next to your bed?

I get mix replies, HV being on the side of saying he shouldn't be in bed with us and needs to get used to his own cot/room during the night, others say if that is what gives you sleep at night then continue! If I try and settle him in his cot/room he will still cry until he is put in our bed with us

Do what gets you the most sleep and what you are comfortable with.

If it's cosleeping then do it safely, some babies just want comfort and God forbid we offer that to them.

My 10 month old sleeps in a cot virtually attached to my bed and will sometimes end up in my bed... My 3 year old sleeps like a log with one of us with him and terrible if we aren't.

Pick your side and accept you will be judged regardless 🤣
