Ferber question??

So after 3 months of baby waking up at least hourly through the night, I am not in a good place and decided I need to at least try some sort of sleep training

Tonight I have done his usual routine and put him into his cot, he woke up after 55 minutes, I left him for 3 minutes then I patted him and shushed him (didn't pick him up like I normally would) it took 5 minutes for him to go back to sleep (not including the 3 minutes I wasn't in the room)

My question is, is that a long time to cry ? I'm so scared of doing it wrong and upsetting him too much, his cry was an angry cry and he sounded like he was trying to make himself sick is this normal ?

I understand this isn't for everyone but I have no help and I'm so tired that I can't function and all I do is cry, I have no joy for life and I don't know what else to do

He's nearly 7 months old

I'm really sorry to hear you're feeling this way.

Is bed sharing an option? The Safe Sleep 7 can guide you how to do this if you're unsure.
It sounds like you need to get a chunk of sleep to refill your tank, and bedsharing might help you get that for a while until your little one is ready to sleep alone.
And no... you're not creating a rod for your own back...and no, you aren't creating bad habits. Smile

I have been bedsharing and he wakes up multiple times an hour, health visitor said if it's not helping him sleep any longer then I might be waking him up when I move

The ferber method your meant to leave them to cry for said time. 3, 5, 7, etc. I do think you have to know your Los cry, though, as to the point their getting too upset to continue.
