What does your baby wear with their sleeping bag?

So my 3mo baby wears a 2.5tog grobag and the thermostat is set to 17 overnight. So from the chart he should be wearing a sleepsuit OR a long sleeve vest under the grobag.

However, for the first month I somehow managed to misread the chart, and I was putting him in a short sleeve vest, sleepsuit on top, and then the grobag. He never seemed too hot at all and I did often check the back of his neck etc. When I realised my mistake I went to just the sleepsuit so that's what we've been doing for two months.

However I can't help but feel that he's too cold! His little hands feel so cold when I pick him up at night. It seems odd that I'm lying there in cosy PJs, with a thick duvet AND a blanket and my baby has fewer layers than me?!

He also wakes a lot more than he used to and I wonder if it's because he's cold - but obviously I know that there's a million and one reasons he could be waking.

Does anyone else have their baby in more layers than the chart recommends? I'm paranoid about SIDS but I also don't want him to be cold!Sad

Just go by what you think- if he feels cold then he is, if he didn’t feel too warm before then he was fine. My baby has a 2.5G bag too and wears a long sleeved vest AND a sleepsuit because the room is cool overnight. They do generate warmth inside that little bag though, even though it’s a low tog.

I do have full respect for the SIDS and Lullaby trust guidelines but there’s nothing wrong with mixing your own instinct with them too as long as the main safety guidelines are adhered to.

My room is 16° and baby wears a long sleeve vest and pyjamas under a 2.5 tog sleeping bag (his brother wore a sleepsuit instead of pyjamas but my second doesn't like his feet covered!).

At 18° he wears the long sleeve vest and just the pyjama top.

At 20° just the long sleeve vest but in the summer I usually get a 1 or 1.5 tog bag.

This is all as per the chart that came with the bag.

My lo wears long sleeve vest and sleeping bag. Though her room sits about 18.5 to 19 overnight I keep it like that with heating. Any colder I would likely need to put more on her x

A 2.5 tog sleeping bag I should have said

2.5tog, long sleeved vest and sleepsuit for the room to be around 17-18. The problem we have is the temperature drops massively overnight so if she doesnt have that on she’ll be freezing in the night.

I also think if I have fluffy pjs on and under the duvet (next to my partner too!) and I’m cold, she must be cold too Sad
