Sleep regression & wanting dummy HELP!

Hello, my 8 month old little boy has always been a great sleeper, sleeping through the night from 2 months. However, this past week he has been waking in the night crying/half crying.

He hasn't cut any teeth yet but I think they're close as he is super dribbly at the moment.

He hasn't had a dummy since 4 months but suddenly it's the only thing that he will stop crying for. I am worried he will rely on it for sleep but I'm not sure what to do - give it or not.

Tonight I was able to get him to sleep without it but it took nearly an hour or singing and rubbing his back. He has woken now at 1am crying and as soon as he has the dummy he falls back to sleep.

Could it be teething? Just the sucking stage?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Just give him the dummy. Honestly. He won't be sucking it when he's 7 at school. It's fine. Neither of mine liked dummies but there's nothing wrong with them for such a little baby. Don't make your life harder

Thank you! There is just so much pressure to wean them from dummies by 1 that I'm just worried he will get addicted my my brothers did 🤣

My lo loves her dummy when she's teething. Inknow you're meant to wean by 1 as what the health visitor told me the other day. But like pp said they won't have it at 7
