31 months - sleep regressions

We have a 31 month old who has generally been a good sleeper, aside from the odd sleep regression period, but these have tended to pass after a few weeks.

Our wee one is now taking upto 2 hours to settle, there's a lot of tossing & turning and whining in his cot and he wakes up during the night a few times whining, not settling until he hears a "sshhhhh". Either my wife or I sleep in his room now.

He still naps, usually for 2.5hrs or so, however he needs his nap, especially when he's back from nursery.

His language is coming on and he's been at nursery for about 5 weeks now, so I guess there are a few things going on.

Anyone else experienced this? It's been about 4 weeks now and there is no sign of it easing!

Or, any tips??

I'd say if my 2.3yo napped for 2.5 hours I'd expect a late and drawn out bed time.

He's dropping his nap now and goes to sleep early and quickly when he doesn't nap.

What time do they nap?
