Hi all, DC is 3 and is very active, eats well and attends pre-school regularly.
She has never been a good sleeper since birth to be fair. I have recently stopped co-sleeping with her in an effort to encourage her independence as we are also having issues with potty-training at the moment too. So DP and I thought it was a good time to encourage her to sleep through the night in her bed instead of getting up and coming to ours in the middle of the night.
She's been doing really well actually and I don't think the amount of hours she sleeps has actually changed. Anyway, to my question.
Is 9/10 (sometimes 8!) hours of sleep each night enough for a 3 year old? I've read online that 3 year olds are supposed to sleep for 11/12 hours but my DC has never slept that long in her life.
She doesn't nap during the day, is usually down by 8pm latest, but wide awake by 6am. She has just woken up now in fact, after going to bed at 8pm. It may be relevant to add that I could put her down at 10pm, 11pm even, she would still be wide awake by 6am.
Should I be concerned? TIA
