Hi
Please can someone post their routine for their 8-9 month old
My LO turns 9 months next week
We had a good routine with 3 naps but I think wake windows are changing and could possibly need two naps, although I do bedtime at 8pm so usually he can’t last that long awake

Still having multiple wakes at night and feeding to sleep

Erm, at that age, I think she used to wake about 630am. She's happy, so I leave her and still do until 7am.

730am. breakfast.
9am milk. There was a always bit left, so I always gave it before nap. Only about 1 or 2 oz left.

12pm to 1230pm lunch.
130pm bottle. Again, I always offered last bit before nap.

5pm dinner
630pm milk. Again I would offer last bit of milk.

I think the proper way is to offer a bottle before food, and I used to do that. But I found my lo wouldn't eat her meals and then wouldn't want her bottle when she woke from nap, then was too close to her meal. It works better for her doing it this way.

A lot of people also give the lunchtime bottle when they wake from their second nap. Again, I found it didn't work for us.

@ChittyBang1987 thank you!
I’m going to try push back the naps tomorrow to eliminate the cat nap hopefully. Problem is he wakes up at a different time everyday

I'm a mean mum. If she isn't awake by 7, I wake her. Even if she wakes up early, i still went by the clock naps.

Babysienna · 06/02/2022 21:12

@ChittyBang1987 yes sometimes he wakes up at 5am and No way can I keep Him up til 9.30
It’s so difficult!:-o

It is difficult, but I left her in her cot as long as possible. I still didn't put her down until 930am earliest. She soon learnt. But then I'm mean and helped our early mornings.

Mine is just 8m, but this has been our routine for the past month:

6:30/7am - Wake
7am- bottle
8am - Breakfast
9:30-10am - Nap (I usually wake him from this. If he sleeps too long here he doesn't sleep enough after lunch, and I noticed he wakes earlier the next morning)
10:30 - Bottle (but he's starting to phase this one out)
12pm - Lunch
1-3pm - Nap
3pm - Bottle & small snack
5pm - Dinner
6:30pm - Bath
6:45pm - Bottle
7pm - In bed

For us, the key to a good routine has been the first nap. Making sure it isn't too near to his morning wake time (leaving it at least 2.5 hours, somtimes 3hrs if he wakes earlier than 7). Keeping it short so he doesn't see it as a time to catch-up on night sleep. This meant he was tired enough after lunch to do a nice long nap, which then helps him get through the whole afternoon without the cat-nap. Before this, we just couldn't seem to work out how to drop from 3 to 2 naps a day...this has sorted it out though!
