8 weeks doesn't sleep in cot until late

Baby is 8 weeks and bedtime routine doesn't seem to be helping at all, the only way they will sleep until about 10pm is in our arms. Around 10ish can transfer successfully into cot and then sleeps fine but if try any earlier in the evening it's in and out of bed constantly as they cry and get really upset.

Should an 8 weeker have an earlier bedtime by now? Or just roll with it? It's not really a problem as I'm exclusively breastfeeding so not trying to go anywhere in an evening at this stage anyway...

That’s totally normal! My 16 week old has just started to go to bed about 8:30pm

Just roll with it, it'll gradually become earlier. Accept evenings on the sofa cluster feeding and eating pre-cut up dinner one handed as standard and if you get more than that it will feel like a bonus.

Totally normal for this age. They start to go down earlier around 10- 16weeks

Thanks everyone, that's a relief, you read about bedtime routines and start second guessing yourself!

Just roll with it. Eventually they can be bribed with paw patrol merch to go to sleep and stay in bed. Until then, do what works at the time.

Hello. We didn't start putting DS down in his bed in the evening (moses basket in sitting room) until after 14wks. Until then he just slept on one of us until we all went upstairs at 10pm. At the time it felt like we'd spent an age with him on our laps watching Netflix with the volume on low. Looking back it seems like hardly any time at all! He was so tiny, it was what he needed. We worried about forming bad habits, but at 6.5m now he goes to sleep at 7.30 in his own room.
