14 mo sleep issues

Hi! My 14 month old is and always has been a terrible sleeper.

Last week or so she goes down until about 1am then wakes up every hour until the morning. Usually needs nursing back to sleep and then kicks off all over again if I remove my boob.

She has been teething, but could something else be causing it? Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, I'm not really sure but my 13 month old has had no end of ear infections lately and actually turns out he has a perforated ear drum because of it. It's wreaked havoc with sleep he'd got to a stage of only waking once or twice and now it's bad again. Might be worth getting baby checked for ear infections.

Another thing is that I read that separation anxiety peaks between 14 and 18 months. That might be your issue also?

Also she might have more teeth on the way? Since my ds's birthday he's had 4 molars and 3 canines. This has also caused us trouble!

Anything new happening in their little life?
Nursery, you back to work etc?

LGBirmingham · 30/01/2022 20:22

Also naps? My ds is on the cusp of transitioning to one. Where are you with that?

Woodkey · 30/01/2022 20:40

So we have transitioned from two to one about a month ago (she literally was running riot until 11pm before that it was havoc) but no real changes other than that... I went back to work a year ago and she's been in nursery since then. We are starting to move her to her own cot but it's in our room next to our bed so barely a change there. Sleep has always been really difficult we've had a lot of problems but this is just so unsustainable! I'm dead on my feet...

The ear infections may be worth looking at thank you I know I had a lot as a kid!

One of my friend's children has had recurring ear infections with no outward symptoms other than very disturbed sleep. Ours have involved an ear leaking fluid but we recently found he has a perforated ear drum. It's definitely well worth checking out. Hope sleep improves for you.

Poor little one! Was she grizzly in the day too? My ds was no fun to be around at all. Hopefully sleep will improve for you now you've got the antibiotics.

Not quite herself but not terrible but she's also teething and of course picked up a nasty cough from nursery so it's been quite full on!
