When did your babies drop the 3rd nap?

DD is almost 6 months old and is in a 3 nap routine. We’ve typically always done the last nap in the carrier as it’s the hardest one to achieve but over recent days it’s become even more difficult. She typically naps for 1 hour in the morning, 1-1.5 hours at lunchtime and then 45mins ish around 4.30pm.
When is the average age for this last nap to go? With DS I was so terrified of stretching his awake times that I kept that last nap for so long. He was probably about 9.5 months before I bit the bullet but keen not to do that again this time as it’s becoming a battle to make her have it but she can’t yet last from waking from her lunchtime nap until bedtime.

I think I bit the bullet at 8 months. I just went for it, as the last nap was getting to 530pm. I followed the huckleberry nap routine for 8 months.

Though I know some Los thrive on going 234 routine at this age.

We dropped the first nap at 7 months as it was becoming too much hard work, and it was clear she just didn’t want it. My DD adapted really well and now at 10 months does 3-3.5 hours over 2 naps (one hour in the morning, then 2-2.5 after lunch). Do you attempt to resettle when she wakes from her naps? When you drop that 3rd one, I would look to resettle on the second nap so that this one gets extended over time, therefore helping you all get to bedtime with limited grizzles. It sounds like she’s ready, so I’d say go for it. Good luck!

8 months i think.

@canyoutoleratethis I tend to try and resettle at the lunchtime nap if she wakes before an hour but I know that she’s always got that last nap to tide her over to bedtime so definitely once we’ve dropped that one I’ll persist with resettling until she’s getting closer to 2 hours. I’m hoping it can go soon, it’s such a pain getting her to sleep again late afternoon. I much prefer it when they move on to one longer lunchtime nap. My 2.5 year old will still kip for up to 1.5 hours every day 🙌
