Wakes up screaming

My ds wakes up around 4am every night screaming. Nothing I do helps or settles him. I have to lie him down on the bed and give myself time out as I'm at my whits end on what's wrong with him- he doesn't want feeding or cuddling or anything. He's on a special milk for cows milk allergy and recently come off omeprazole as I don't think it was reflux. What could it be at this time every night?

What eventually makes him settle? How long was he on the Omeprazole for? Did you wean him off it? Did this start when you stopped the meds?

Why was he on omeprazole in the first place?

He's very young for it, but could be teething if not digestion related. Have a feel of his gums for very hard bits.

Try changing the room he sleeps in and see if it keeps happening.

My second dc was usually sad a 4am for a couple of years, he was sometimes soothed by close contact and movement, I needed really strong coffee and toast with real butter. I used to try and get to bed as early as possible.
You might need to start thinking of 4am as early morning not night time.
You are doing brilliant by taking yourself away from the situation to calm down, it sounds really really tough.
