Does sleep regression come early for overdue babies?

Hey! My baby just turned 12 weeks old on Tuesday. He was never a good sleeper, only slept 2 hours at a time since birth but we really turned a corner since Christmas Day and he started doing 4 and 5 hour stretches, even 6 hours on one amazing night. We had 2 lovely weeks and then it all ended as quickly as it started and for the last 3 nights his sleep has been worse than ever be

e! Last night it took me close to 4 hours to get him down in his crib and then he only slept for 2 hours before waking and I fed him and put him back down and he slept for 45 minutes, followed by a 1 hour sleep. So less than 4 hours total sleep in his crib all night. He did sleep a little more than that on me while I was trying to settle him to put him down.

Is this the 4 month sleep regression come early?? He was 12 days overdue. Or am I over-reacting to a few bad nights? It's just so disheartening when things had just started getting better. I know he's young and bad sleep is normal but it's tough when all the other newborn mums I know keep telling me what great sleepers they have! 😭

Any milestones happen at their adjusted age, so if they’re early or late then you calculate it from the due date

Mine was 14 days overdue and the same, sleep regression hit early. I feel for you!

@ShirleyPhallus That's what I was afraid of. :( How did it go for you?

We rode it out until 6 months and then did controlled crying. Not for everyone but she slept through on night 3 (did night weaning at the same time)

6 months seems a very long way away when he isn't even 3 months old yet. Sad My biggest fear is that he'll still be a terrible sleeper when I go back to work at 8 months. Glad that she is sleeping through for you now x

I could have written this post! My baby is 13 weeks and was born at 37+5. We’ve gone from pretty decent stretches of sleep to virtually no naps during the day and wake ups every two hours at night with a lot of screaming/thrashing. My calm chilled out baby now seems so unhappy…

My 12 week old baby currently feeding less and screaming at night for a bottle every 4 hours. She never use to be like this. She is very unsettled and constantly tossing her head around. Just don’t seem herself. She has to go 5-6 stretches and just moan for a bottle when she was ready.
