5 month old screams before sleeping

I am pulling my hair out here and wondering when he will grow out of this. My 5 month old, since he was about 3 months will literally scream like he is being murdered just as he is about to drop off to sleep. Does anyone else's LO do this? Is it normal??

He's not overtired, he tends to have a wake window of about 1.5 - 2hrs, sometimes a bit longer on occasions. What is this all about?

It's exhausting to have him scream blue murder before every nap/sleep 😖

I went through similar with DS. He would absolutely fight sleep at nap times. After reading something on here, I got my pregnancy ball back out and started bouncing him to sleep. It was pretty miraculous. Naps at home are pretty straightforward but it's still tricky when we're out.

Do you have a ball you can try? Apparently there's something about the bouncing movement that is very soothing. I use it for nighttime wakings too.

Yes both of mine did/do this, not for very long though definitely less than a minute, then they sleep soundly. I just ignore it tbh. I forget exactly when my eldest grew out of it but it some time around 1 I think.
