8 month sleep regression?

So my baby is 9 months now. Since beginning of December he has been sleeping terribly. He will go to sleep fine in his cot which is next to my bed. He has the right amount of clothes on for the temperature. He has a bottle before sleep but I put him down awake and then he goes off with a dummy. He's on the whole been a good sleeper. Maybe woke a few times for his dummy but that's not a problem for me.
But since December he's been waking frequently. Crying loads and only settling when I hold him so we end up co sleeping for the rest of the night. He was also waking up anytime from 4:30am onwards. This has stopped in the past three days but the frequent night waking hasn't. So I'm guessing it was a regression but now have we just got into bad habits? He naps twice a day and goes to sleep without rocking or anything. So I'm a bit confused.

Hi we’re going through similar - baby is 7.5 months and been pretty good until the last couple of weeks, waking in the night inconsolable, well the only thing that works is co sleeping. Done a fair bit of Googling and does sound like 8-10 month sleep regression & separation anxiety, which fingers crossed is supposed to be temporary!

I’m happy to do what needs doing to get us through and for us all to get some sleep, but also worried about starting bad habits that’ll be hard to get out of. Fingers crossed for you that things go back to normal soon!

I've been co sleeping too
But he's still waking up upset. I guess I'll just have to ride it out.

How long did this last for you? Currently on our 4th week. 8 month old currently wont even be placed in cot without screaming, hubby and I currently taking it in turns throughout night to have her asleep on us but he works away a lot
