Not sure if anyone has anything similar so can give me any advice! My daughter is now 4 and a half months old and has always been such a good sleeper. However after sleeping through the night from about 7 weeks she has started stirring in the night again. This have been going on for about 6ish weeks now where around 4 every morning she'll just start stirring and fussing, tossing and turning, thrashing her legs about but isn't really awake? this will go on for ages until she eventually drops her dummy or just wakes up. If I was to pick her up when it first starts and put her in the bed with me though she'll immediately settle back to sleep? She's in a next to me crib that we've tried next to the bed for comfort and away from the bed and it's making no difference! Any help? I almost wish she was just waking up again for night feeds would be easier! One tired mumma

I searched so many threads about this when my little boy was that age! He did this thing at 4am ON THE DOT every morning, lifting his legs up and thrashing them down onto the mattress. From what I could on here it is REALLY common. Lots of suggestions why it might happen so I’m not 100% what caused it. But he was the same, in a next round me with side down attached to my bed. I was worried about him doing it for so long and then waking himself up fully, I used to just put him in my bed as soon as it started. And then I started just putting my arms over across his legs (not restraining as such, just the weight of my arm was enough to restrict a little bit). He did grow out of it and just stopped one night. X

Hi Jade97, my 3 month old son started doing this about 2 weeks ago. Did it ever stop? How long did it last?

My little girl is nearly 5 months and has been doing this too. She used to start at 4am now it’s all night. It usually won’t wake her until about 4am though.

I have looked online and the common answers seem to be either wind or linked to the change in sleep cycles/self soothing.

Hoping it eases soon as it keeps me awake as it’s so loud!

So glad I found this thread, my ten week old has started doing this, sometimes at 4am but some nights from 1am onwards. He also cries out in his sleep so I seem to spend most of my nights sitting waiting for him to eventually wake himself up. He has struggled with wind in the past but I thought we’d got over this - perhaps not.

Did it take long for your little ones to grow out of?
