Stopping bedtime bottle - 14 months

My son is 14 months and I'm keen to get rid of the bedtime bottle now and just use a cup before bed.

He happily takes milk from a cup during the day and is put down for naps awake and will self settle.

Bedtime is a little bit trickier. He doesn't fall asleep at the bottle but he settles much quicker if he has had a bottle and has had time to lay down and chill while taking it etc.

We are trialling this week giving milk downstairs in a cup and then teeth and bed with a book or song instead.

Tonight wasn't too bad but he did take around 45 mins to settle. I know it's night one so this might just be an initial blip.

Does anyone have any tips or experience of doing this? How long did it take to become a routine? Anything that will ease the transition?

We did cup of milk in the bath then he’d bring it with him when he got out to finish, teeth, pjs, books and then cuddle in the dark then bed. He was fine, hopefully your DS will settle after a couple of nights.

It just takes a few days to break the habit. Once we stopped my daughters bottle she's never touched milk since!

@Abouttimemum we tried again tonight with milk before bed downstairs.

Again took a while to settle down But I think it's just an adjustment.

So funny that he goes down for naps easier than nighttime.
