Tips and tricks to get a 8 month old to self settle for naps

Just as the subject says really...

My 8 month old is breastfed to sleep and goes off quickly enough and is then placed in her cot. I'd like to give her the opportunity to go to sleep without being fed for naps. I know she can self settle as she's done it a few tips overnight when she's sleepy. But in the day she's so alert that if I put her in the cot she'd be rolling over and pulling herself up all the time! She never seems to be at the drowsy stage so she'd never lay down still!

She has a good routine so knows it's sleep time. As soon as I put her in her sleeping bag she's keen on a feed.

I feed to sleep at bedtime too. Eventually I'd like her to settle herself but I really enjoy our bedtime snuggle at the moment so I'm not giving that one up yet!

Anyone been through similar and have a solution?

You are giving her the opportunity, but she's not doing it because she can't reliability do it. It's a developmental thing which will come.

If you mean, can I have suggestions as to how to break the feed to sleep cycle, that's a different question and you'll get very differing answers depending on whether posters agree with cry it out or sleep training generally.

Can you explain a bit more what you'd like?

Thanks for your reply. I think I'm meaning the feed to sleep cycle. Definitely not up for crying it out. After something gentle.
