Hi everyone

Really hoping for some advice here as I’m really struggling mentally with my son’s sleep. Quick background - always been a bad sleeper, improved a bit around 6 months (still up a couple of times a night but relatively easy to get back down).

He’s almost 10 months old and sleep has been really bad the past couple of months which we put down to 8/9/10 month regression and hoped it would pass. The past two weeks or so he’s been waking up usually around 1am and taking 2 and a half hours minimum to get back to sleep. He’s not awake wanting to play - his eyes are often closed but when we try and rock him back to sleep he’s squirming, kicking his legs out and this builds up to a full on scream, as if he’s in pain or something.

We originally thought separation anxiety but why is he still so upset even when we pick him up and are cuddling him? Then we thought teething as he did get his first teeth through early last week but he’s showing no signs of discomfort during the day or any classic teething signs and calpol doesn’t seen to help. The only thing that gets him back to sleep faster than 2 and a half hours is giving him a small bottle, but he’s not fed through the night for about 3 months now and I don’t want to restart the habit if possible. Also, although he will take the bottle in the night he’ll cry out every so often while drinking it, like a pain cry, which again makes me wonder whether it’s teeth.

Has anybody experienced this? Will it pass?

Thanks
