From bed to cot

I was wondering if anyone had advice.. my son is five and a half months old and was
Breast fed for the first three months so he would come into bed with me and feed and admittedly then stay in bed with me.
I cannot get him to sleep in his cot now at all. I feel as though I have tried everything!
He will sleep in my bed without me but no chance anywhere else! He is so clingy! My husband now sleeps in another room as the bed is too crowded.
I'm at a loss now.
I keep having people say that I have 'made. Rod for my own back' by having him sleep with me.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated thank you !

Don’t listen to people who try to shame you with that shit. You did what you needed to do then and you want something different now then, that’s all! You’re amazing. Not had this problem but could you do it gradually? Start by sidecar-ing a cot to the side of your bed by removing one side? Then put the side on after a few days / a week? Then move it further and further away from your bed and eventually baby’s own room? I’ve seen people suggest similar so hopefully it has worked for other people before! Good luck x

Same!
So we just ditched the cot and went straight to a bed with bed guard and he slept great ever since.

You haven't at all. You've done what was right for your family. There are lots of infant feeding and sleep specialists on Instagram such as Kathryn Stagg and Lyndsey Hookway for advice.

our DS never slept in a cot. he and I sleep in a floor bed in his room, he will be 2 in Jan! I felt on and off guilty like I should be doing something differently until he was about 6 or 7 months old, then I just embraced it, it worked for us, everyone happy. you only need to change things if its not working for any of you anymore.

This sounds like a brilliant idea thank you! I will definitely try side caring the cot.
