Cellular blanket/ togs

FTM and stressing that baby is too hot or too cold!

I knows there’s a lot online for how many layers to dress baby in for bed, but does anyone know how many togs a cellular blanket is?

Or when the advise is for “one blanket” that means one layer of cellular blanket, right?

I’m finding the whole thing a bit overwhelming!

I also stressed about this with my first and ended up using sleep bags rather than blankets and a gro egg. The gro egg came with really clear instructions on what tog to put baby in based on the temp of the room so I just used that as my guide and put whatever tog of bag it recommended! Do you have any sleep bags? If you don’t have a gro egg but have another room thermometer you can prob find the instructions online anyway? It took the stress out of it for me!

As pp. I wish I used sleeping bag and groegg or thermometer when my lo was first born. Stressed about it all. I use sleeping bag now and best thing ever.

Yes one layer is “one blanket”.

Agree that sleeping bags are great - but if you have a very tiny baby just check that the arm and neck holes are tight enough so there’s no chance of it riding up over the baby’s face.

Also keep checking how hot the baby’s back is with the palm of your hand and you’ll get to know what their normal temperature feels like so you’ll know if they’re too hot.

I only use blankets in the pram, never in bed. My favourite was the Tommee Tippee Gro Snuggle that can be used as a swaddle or conventional sleeping bag, we had 2.5 tog for our winter baby.
