2 month old fighting naps & sleep

For the past 2 weeks my 2 month old has been napping at most for 1 & a half hours collectively during the day. Even getting him down for those naps & getting him to stay down is a battle even though I’m following his tired cues.
By the time night time comes he is so overtired that he screams relentlessly, will eventually fall asleep but as soon as we put him down he’s awake again.
Earliest he’s been finally staying down at night is 1 am. I am at my wits end with this & my husband is also feeling the effects.
Any advice?

It was about 8 weeks when we realised our baby couldn't fall asleep by themselves and would seemingly cry for no apparent reason but it was because they were overtired. There would be around a 10 minute period of moaning and if we didn't catch it in time there would be relentless screaming and I'd have to feed to settle him.

Try and keep a really really close eye on his tiredness cues. I think at 8 weeks it's about an hour maximum. www.slumberpod.com/blogs/our-blog/age-appropriate-awake-windows

Does he like being rocked to sleep? Fed to sleep? Can you contact nap?
