What age did you give your child a duvet/pillow?

my little boy is 18 months now (goes so quick…!) , he tends to fidget around the bed quite a lot still and sleeps in the frog position, bum in the air etc.
i’m worried the fact he’s such a fidget and the way he sleeps, having a pillow and duvet wouldn’t be safe for him? it’s just it’s getting colder now and he’s getting older, just curious so know what other parents have done with their littlens?

What does he sleep in now? He doesn’t sound ready for a duvet. You can get sleeping bags with sleeves if you need something warm for him.

We put my son in a duvet when he was 2 and a half and in a toddler bed. We made sure he could pull the duvet back over himself if he woke up in the night and it had fallen off.

he uses a loose blanket at the moment which he does use but also tends to kick it off too, he did not like the bags at all. i guess i can give them a go again.
i didn’t think he would be ready, i’m glad to hear someone say the same! i’m just seeing people all over my social media putting their kids in bed with proper duvets and that, started to feel like i was wrong to not give him one lol

We used a sleeping bag for as long as possible...we gave our little boy a pillow when he was over 1 I think and he's just had a duvet at the age of 3...it's a nightmare keeping the duvet on as he tosses and turns so much...because it's getting cold now we have brought a fidget bum to stop the duvet coming off xx

We bought one when DS was 18 months but he is still not fully ready at nearly 2 - in the mornings the duvet has been kicked off, and his head is very rarely on the pillow. He sleeps in child’s pose/frog position a lot too. A thin blanket is mostly used, but he wriggles away from that as well.

Start with a pillow and the thin blanket, then consider a duvet once he’s got the hang of staying with his head at the pillow end.

My dd is 2 this weekend and always slept in a sleeping bag from birth until a month ago when I got her a duvet. This was purely in the basis that she's been such a good sleeper, but would move a lot in her sleep and I was worried that she'd end up tangled in her duvet or cold and on top of it! But so far she's sleeping really well with it.
We gave her a pillow around 14 months, it was a pretty solid toddler pillow and she's never really moved it around her cot. She got her pillow before her duvet because on the times we brought her into our bed to co sleep, she happily went to sleep with her head on the pillow and slept better than without
