Hi, my lovely 11 month old is very dependent on breastfeeding to get back to sleep at night. He feeds between 3 and 5 times a night. We are looking at doing a bit of gentle sleep training soon but right now I am reducing breastfeeding ahead of a return to work. I'm down to just nights and to be honest it's quite painful when it's more than twice a night since my supply is now quite low (or feels it) and his little teeth are sharp! He drinks bottles during the day fine and just took a bottle at 10.30 for his first wake-up. He then just couldn't settle and I've been with him for 90 minutes rocking him and giving him more from the bottle to try to get him to sleep. During that time he drank 200ml and this was after his 200ml bedtime bottle at 7.30. I know this is a change for him but wondered if anyone has done this and how it went? Any tips? Next wake up will probably be in 2-3 hours and I don't want a repeat! Poor little guy was trying to suck my chin at one point
Also I am aware I may be replacing one unhelpful sleep association with another. I'd rather not do this if I can help it but when I try not feeding him we are awake for 2 hours or so as he completely wakes up. Maybe he is actually just really hungry, but I do think he needs the boob to resettle. Would love to hear from you if you have any advice in this area!x
