18 month sleep

I just need some ideas because I'm getting really down.
Firstly to set the scene in a single mum to two. My 18 month old is still breast feed but not always to slew during the night. He bails once a day at around 10/11.
He's never been a great sleeper but it's just turned really bad recently, since about 16 months. Almost every night he'll get up for 2/3 hours. Hell be tossing and turning and doing cartwheels all over the bed and I am just getting to a point where I'm getting so frustrated because I'm SO tired! We went to a. Christmas slight show tonight and he fell aslee foe 20 mins at 7... awake the whole way home in the car, went to sleep at 10 and now up at 3 and seemingly up for the day. The other night he was up 1-6 :(
I just don't know how to stop him waking up for such a long time! During this time I normally feed and cuddle him. I just don't know what to do. I'm at the end of my tether. I can cope with night awakening but I can't cope with 3 hours every night.
