Undertired? Nap transition? 7.5 months old!

Hello,

My 7.5 month old has recently come to the end (or at least I hope he has..) a phase of waking every 2-3 hours at night again to now doing 12-13 hours of night sleep with one wake up.

However, I'm now wondering if his daytime sleep needs adapting. He's showing much more resistance when I'm trying to put him in his cot to nap and often refusing to sleep until he's been up and about again.

I'm still working on a 3 nap schedule but wondering if a transition is beginning? Are the nap protests him simply not tired enough? Do his wake windows need extending? I don't know where to start and want to prevent the dreaded overtiredness!!

Any help and experiences much appreciated Smile

What's you nap schedule?

greygiraffe1 · 28/11/2021 14:03

@Fancyties until recently it's been 45mins-1hr in a morning (2hrs after waking), anywhere from 1hr-2hr at lunch (around 2hrs 15 after waking) then a quick nap 20-30mins around 4. Bed at 7.

May be a chance to look at 234 rough routine. I'm not suggesting the 4 hours awake time as my lo at your lo age now might not manage it. She can just manage it now at almost 9 month old, but some lo's thrive on 234 at your lo's age. Personally mine didn't, yours might.

I think at that age I did roughly
9am sleep 10am wake. I capped this one to encourage longer afternoon and discourage early morning waking.
1pm sleep 220pm/230pm wake normally.
430/445pm sleep till 515pm.
8pm bed.
