Tell me how to survive the 18 month sleep regression

Ds 17 months . We got through all the other regressions with no effect on night sleep! ( nap times were a nightmare instead ) He's literally been a little nighttime sleeping dreams since he was 3 months but now ! Wham.

Day 7 today and it's getting worse and worse. He still goes to sleep fine! Settles himself and sleeps soundly till anytime between 2 and 4 am and then he goes crazy! He screams the place down . Terraced house and DSS 12 asleep in the room next door makes this less than ideal.

He won't settle back down and it's like he hates his cot! We can get him calm and try and put him back and he screams again. We have resorted to one of us taking him down stairs and going back to sleep with us on the sofa once he has calmed down which I'm aware isn't ideal! He's always been such a good self settler

I've heard horror stories it can last months 😩

I also have suspicions on back teeth coming through .

Any one tell me how they survived? Are we making a rod for our backs by taking him down stairs and letting him sleep on us on the sofa ? ( trying to avoid bringing him into our bed as it's not something we are keen to do)

Help!
