Duvet in cot?

I feel like I should really know the answer to this, but is it safe to use a toddler duvet and pillow in a cot bed with the sides still on?

My DD (2) has started objecting to her sleeping bag at night, and really likes having a blanket over her instead. But she still wakes in the night, and very early in the morning, so I want to leave the sides on the cot for a bit longer if I can. Can I ditch the sleeping bags for a duvet (I've bought a specific toddler one from JL) or should I just persevere with the sleeping bags until the cot sides come off??

My little one has just turned 2 and he has had a duvet and a pillow in his cot for approx 3 months now. We started with just a pillow with his seeping bag for a few nights then introduced the duvet. He's not quite got the hang of keeping himself covered up but he tries, luckily it's not cold in his room so he's ok.

We're not ready to remove the cot sides yet either as he sometimes wakes up in the night & he would just get out of bed wonder around!

It’s fine to give a duvet as long they’re at least a year old. Winter isn’t the most ideal time to swap as she could get cold if she kicks it off and it increases the likelihood of a successful escape but if she’s not sleeping well and you think it might help then I’d definitely give it a go.

Yes, we put a toddler duvet in the cot with DS once he started raging at being confined in a sleeping bag. He loves his duvet now.
