2 year old not sleeping through anymore

DS who is 25 months old is no longer sleeping through the night.

We sleep trained at 12 months and night weaned and 6 months (he wasn't waking for feeding anyway) and he was a great little sleeper.

Hes had a few bad sicknesses the last few months so we've put him in our bed. But now weeks later, he wakes every night at 12.30 and won't go back asleep unless I put him in the bed with us.

I've had broken nights for weeks now and miss the days when he slept through.

Has this happened anyone else? Will he grow out of it or do I need to sleep train again?

Do they still have a nap during the day? Look up 'split nights', could be they're not tired enough to sleep through anymore so you could try tweaking their nap length/awake windows.

Yes, sleeps at 12.30. We only really let him sleep for an hour because he if sleeps any longer he is awake during the night. I thought he seemed too young to remove the nap though, he only just turned 2?

Is he cold?

Bobble011019 · 10/11/2021 21:59

His room can get cold, which I think was maybe waking him initially. so I've set the heating to come on so his room is always warm. But hasn't seemed to help

Cosy socks!!
Ds always had a huge pair over his babygro. Still loves a pair at 7!!

Oh really? You think cold feet be causing him to wake?

Could the heating coming on be waking him?

It sounds like he's got into the habit of being in with you when he was sick, and it's coincided with a fine when he's starting to need his nap less. I would try gentle sleep training again to get him back in the habit of being in his own bed, if you're on board with that. If you do it properly and it doesn't work then maybe he needs to drop his nap.

Thanks @ratussbaguss we did very gentle sleep training again and he is back sleeping full nights in his cot. I think a mixture of developmental, sickness and habit of our bed. But once we got him back falling asleep by himself he gradually started to sleep all night again:)
