Is my 4 week old napping for too long?

Hi all,

Ftm here, my baby is napping for coming up to 4 hours and I’m not sure if I should wake him for a feed now? It seems like a long time for him to sleep during the day in one stint. He normally has 30 min naps with one long nap (about three hours). He’s currently sleeping pretty well at night, but it’s usually quite difficult to get him down for a nap during the day, so I’m surprised he’s sleeping for so long. He seems otherwise well, just need some advice!

Thank you :)

Hello! Would he take a dream feed?

Maybe he’s having a developmental leap and needs some extra sleep.

Assuming he is gaining weight well and is back to birth weight - then no need to wake baby to feed at any time.

Ah I hadn’t heard of this before, just given it a google so I’ll give it a go! Thank you :)

Let baby sleep!

I personally didn’t let mine sleep longer than 3 hours in one hour during the day. I also fed every 3 hours, although let that stretch to hours once a day if they were sleeping. I wanted to fill mine up in the day so they’d go longer at night. I don’t think you need to wake them up for medical reasons but maybe consider it if they feed frequently at night. X
