4 month old too big for crib

Hi all,

My 4 month old is currently sleeping in a next room me crib in my bedroom at night and in his pram bassinet in the day (he grew out of Moses basket at 8 weeks). He's getting to the point where he is so squished in his pram bassinet he really does need to come out but I'm not sure what he can sleep in during the day as it's recommended babies sleep in same room as parents until at least 6 months old. I'm also thinking he probably has about 3 weeks left in his next to me crib too until he's too big for that. There is absolutely no room in our bedroom to move his cot in to be with us and I'm really not comfortable or ready to put him in his cot just yet as he's still so young.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what baby can sleep in in the day and night?

Both mine were big babies and were in a cot by about 2 months. Could you use a travel cot if a normal sized cot won't fit in your room? Or is there room for a small bed or similar in the room with the cot for one of you to sleep on until he's 6 months?

A travel cot would also work during the day for naps, or a buggy that lies flat?

We had a tiny house so they went in the cot with the baby monitor so they could hear us.

Mattress on the floor if they aren't mobile yet would work though?

My son has always been way over 100th centile and even though he exceeded the weight limit of his Next2Me, we managed to keep him in it until 6 months.

After that, we got a space saver cot, took the side off, and strapped it to our bed the same way the Next2Me did.

He's 2.5 and still using that if he toddles into our room.

Are you sure? My 1 yr old daughter is 97th centile and still sleeps comfortably in her next2me crib

My LO is long baby and was in travel cot very early. I say about 4 months. She liked to move and couldn't in side crib thing. As she's so tall she's in 12 to 18 months clothes at 8 months old 😂 not an ounce of looking overweight at all!

But as pp said travel cot. I think I used pushchair from about 4/5 months old too and used that for naps too. I know it doesn't lie straight down but what I chose to do and then she was in same room as Me 🤷🏼‍♀️

Look for half size cots. They are like a normal cot but half as long. Think they are also called mini cribs. This is what we got to prolong the sleeping In our room
