10month old sleep regression

Hi mums,

I have a beautiful 10 nearly 11 month old baby boy. We are having trouble with sleeping at night.

Since he had a flu and a cough he has not settled to sleep during the night. We went from sleeping from 8pm to 4 am (quick pay on the back) and ready for the day at 8am to waking up every hour at night.

It’s really exhausting. Is this a sleep regression? How do I get my boy back to sleeping more than an hour at night ?. We are surviving on no sleep. Any solutions that may help?

We have tried co sleeping but that doesn’t work he still wakes up every hour. My boy used to love sleeping in his cot. But for the past 3 weeks it’s been a struggle for him to stay asleep in his cot.

If he was really ill, it's not a big surprise that it affected his sleep. After 3 weeks he could still have some of his cold or flu left, if it was bad. I'm thinking something like a a sore throat that isn't visible to you.

As to how to get him back to sleeping on the cot, does he go from awake to asleep in the cot at bedtime? Or are you putting him down already asleep? You might need to work on getting him settling independantly.

Also look at daytime sleep. Sleep deprivation left over from the daytime can cause disrupted nights. He might need a routine change or tweak. What's his current daytime routine?
