6.5 month naps

Since moving her into her own room/cot, my baby has been sleeping through the night (so lucky, I know!) but naps are absolutely terrible! She will only contact nap apart from one 30 min nap in the pram in the morning. For a longer afternoon nap, we have to lie down and I basically have to breastfeed her the entire time. Then she will nap from 1hour even up to 2.5 hours. Then the last nap of the day (30 mins usually) is in the sling, and she usually fights that one, but that's to be expected. Any tips on some gentle sleep training for naps? Or are they always this difficult? Ideally I would like her long afternoon nap to be in the cot, but I may just be dreaming.

Is she going into her cot awake at bedtime? That would be the first thing to work on. Awake as in fully awake, not drowsy and nearly asleep.

If she knows how yo go to sleep in the cot at the time when sleep pressure is greatest (bed time) then she can learn to do the same when sleep pressure is lower (at nap time)

Hi @FATEdestiny yes she goes down fully awake and goes to sleep within 10 minutes, with a bit of whining sometimes. So you think I should try this with naps? I only tried once and she cried for 30 mins (I went in to comfort her at regular intervals) before I gave up and put her in the pram and she fell asleep immediately! Should I persist with the cot naps then? Even if she fights me on it? I really don't like hearing her cry :(

I only ever did pram naps and only recently in past few weeks have I done cot naps. My LO is 8 months. I tried cot naps at the age your lo is now but lo wouldn't settle. She currently does cot naps now.

Mine slept through the night but was a rotter when it came to naps - at first I said "I don't care if she doesn't sleep in the day so long as she sleeps at night!" but eventually had to address the nap situation. Tried all sorts and nothing seemed to work until one day I was desperate for the loo (not well, sorry TMI!) and I had to put her in her cot for about 20 mins - she was screaming and by the time I was out the loo, she was asleep. After that she would go down with about 5 mins of fussing. Perhaps I was lucky and I wouldn't encourage you to leave your baby for 20 minutes screaming but maybe leave the intervals a little longer if you're popping in every couple of mins?
