FTM here, my son is 4.5 months old. He has been sleeping in a vest and sleepsuit with a crochet blanket, the temperature in the room has been 18.5°C at night, is what he's wearing enough?
What is/was your child wearing at this time of year?

My 5m son has a long sleeved vest, sleepsuit, 2.5 tog sleeping bag, a cellular blanket and another blanket on top. He gets very cold and we realised this was why he was waking up at 2am every night since the weather got colder.

My 7.5 month old wears long sleeve vest and 2.5 tog sleeping bag with temp at 20. And she's toasty. Think it depends on your lo tbh x

My LO has always been a hot baby. For a 18.5 room I would have her in a sleep suit and a 1.5 tog sleeping bag. No vests, no blankets. From a SIDS perspective it’s better they’re cool than too hot but obviously you don’t want them cold. Check the back of their neck or their torso to check if they feel warm. If hot/sweating/clammy you need to remove layers.

It’s about 20.5 in her room tonight so she’s in a long sleeve vest and 1 tog sleeping bag. If she gets cold in the night I’ll put leggings and socks on her

11 week old DD was in a short sleeved vest, sleep suit and 2.5 tog sleeping bag last night and was a little bit warm so tonight I've done away with the vest. Would love it if I could still use blankets with her because I found it easier to change in the night if the temperature changed but she just kicks them off now then wakes up because she's cold.

@black2black that is so many layers!! He'll be like a reverse of the Princess and the Pea by mid-December Grin

In that temperature I’m putting my 3 month old in a long vest and 2.5 tog sleeping bag. I would definitely think he would be cold in just a vest, sleep suit and crochet blanket. I would think about if you would be warm enough having a nap wearing that - almost definitely not. Unless he’s sleeping through the night he could well be waking due to cold that you are misinterpreting as hunger - it’s a very common issue that parents suddenly find their baby sleeps much better when they dress them a bit warmer at night as there is so much fear around overheating that people go too far the other way.

It could be a bit cold but hard to l ow without seeing the blanket. At that age mine was in a sleeping bag as he would kick blankets off. I would try a 2.5 tog sleeping bag, or a thicker blanket
