Have started cutting his two 40 min naps (am and pm) down to 1 nap about 11.30am for an 1-2hours.

Is this enough for this age?

my 14 month old has only really started cutting down to 1 nap per day but it has been because he has given indications that he doesnt need 2 (although some days he does have 2). Are you doing it because he seems to want only 1 nap or because you only want him to have 1? At this age the 'norm' is about 2-3 hours daytime sleep and 11-12 hours nightime sleep (if I remember correctly). I have to get ds to 12.15/12.30 for his nap as dd needs picking up from nursery at 11.30pm so he cant have a nap at 11/11.30am.

Thanks for replies

DS appears not to want to sleep until about 11.30am but then is very tired by 5pm (he goes to bed at 6pm)

what i'd do is drag that 11.30 nap to 12 pm if you can manage it? my dd who is nearly 11 months sometimes has two 60-90 minute naps or one 2 hour nap at 12.

wilks - we have one morning nap for 40 mins or so and one nap after lunch for 1.5 (sometimes 2 if I am lucky) hours. Its the same if he is at nursery or at home.

My sisters' twins (2.5) have 1 x 1.5 hours nap after lunch and have done for about a year I think.

I know some babies grow out of their morning naps earlier than others though.

Hope that helps. x
