Hi all,
Sorry in advance for long post but hoping for some advice.
My 11 week old ds has been very mixed sleeper day and night from birth but seems to have regressed further recently.
To get him to sleep longer than half hour in the day we have to put him in his pram suit into his nest on the sofa and he seems to love that and can sleep up to 3 hours daytime naps in there although we do have days when he just won't sleep and have to use the pram or car etc but not very often.
Night time always been a bit trickier but managed to get him in his cot in the nest in sleep bag for some weeks now. Just a few weeks ago started a bedtime as was showing signs he was ready which was between 8-9 then usually up anywhere between 11 -and 1 but usually nearer 11. Then again anywhere between 2-3 then the last part of night he struggles to go back in cot so usually ends up in bed with us. The last few days he has been having 2 short day naps usually 30 mins each and one longer one between 2-3 hours and therefore thought he needed earlier bedtime so just started moving bedtime to 7-8pm. But the last few nights he has been all over the place with sleep particularly nighttime. Last night he was badly in his cot and waking frequently. I should also add that in daytime sleeps we put him down awake but at night time we always have to get him to sleep on us and transfer him or he just doesn't settle. He had been poorly with bronchiolitis but seems much better now. Not sure if he was still recovering or having a sleep regression. The other thing I have noticed when googling threads about similar things is that babies were already sleeping much better than this at night before their regression, lots even through the night...we are still no where near this but I know he is still little so probably still normal but hard when you read others sleeping through this age.
I guess in short what I'm asking is why will my baby settle himself to sleep in the day but not night. Why is he still waking so regularly at night and why particularly worse last few nights, still recovering, sleep regression or just a phase. My eldest dd was such a bad sleeper we had a sleep trainer come stay with us to help so I'm trying not to panic but that was 7 years ago so can't remember what she did. Also to add he is bottle fed and does have a dummy which works in day but not night. Doesn't seem more hungry than usual
But can be really hard to keep him up to get more milk in him during night feeds and at present still on slightly reduced feeds which are bit all over the place as recovering from illness.
Any advice greatly appreciated
