Kicking covers off at night

How the heck do I get him to keep his blanket over him on a night!? He'll be 2 at the beginning of December and has a toddler quilt because he doesn't like sleeping bags 🙄 which was fine while it was quite warm during the night, but it's started dropping cool and he will not stay under it!!

Hugest fleece you can find, under the mattress, over the top over the duvet, back under the mattress. Holds everything in place and is warm enough if the duvet does slip away.

Is he in a bed or a cot?

I'd just make sure he's in warm pj's/sleep suit, best & socks. Tuck it in at the bottom and along one side (if you can)

Mine liked the slumbersac bags with legs, as they felt less bag-like and you can even walk in them. Maybe warm, fleecy pyjamas!

LadyDanburysHat · 23/09/2021 11:23

Also remember that toddlers don't feel the cold the same as us. He is maybe just fine.

Warm PJ’s and socks, so that the duvet is extra. They do learn to kick it off and pull it back on in their sleep.

All in one cosy pjs
Mine were always lovely and warm

If he's in a toddler sized bed, get him a single duvet, turn it sideways and tuck one of the short sides firmly under the mattress. When its kicked off and if he gets cold, he should be able to find it again. Probably works fine in a single bed too, actually.

He's still in a cot. Duvet is tucked along sides and bottom. Might try the fleecy pjs. Can you get all in one fleecy pjs without the hood? Never had this problem with my oldest, he loved his sleeping bags haha

He might just be a hot sleeper! DS1 is a snuggler, and the more duvets he is under the better curled up in a ball - DS2 would sleep nude in the snow if he could, kicks every duvet off the moment he falls asleep and splays out like a starfish.

SheWoreYellow · 23/09/2021 11:43

Yes you can get fleece pyjamas or onesies. Might need a bit of hunting down but there are there.

popgoesperfection · 23/09/2021 12:09

Thank you @SheWoreYellow
@Xiaoxiong you might be right, he never seems to wake up cold. You just worry don't you.

My DS was (and still is at 5!) the same. This padded sleep suit was amazing, wish they made it in bigger sizes as he still hates being tucked in!
